Doc, Thank you for showing me the importance of family. I have so many childhood and adulthood memories of you that will never be forgotten. Me, Jeremy, Tucker and Katie love you so much and count in an honor to have had the opportunity to have such a tight and constant relationship with you through the years. We already miss you like crazy but know you are in Heaven walking the streets of gold in your new and whole body. We woke up to snow this morning and Katie said, "I bet Doc told Jesus how much me and brother love snow." We love you and will see you again real soon!
James
Yost (J.Y.) McNabb, 93, of Loudon, TN, went to be with the Lord on January 22,
2015. J.Y. was the son of the late
Samuel and Addie McNabb of the Cave Creek Community. He was the brother to the
late Glenn McNabb, Nancy Smith, and Minnie Jo Harvey. He was married to his wife, the late Johnnie
Ruth (Nannie) Stafford McNabb, for 51 years. J.Y. is the loving father to his
daughter Gail Campbell and husband Peno, his sons Mike McNabb and wife Doris
and Ronnie McNabb and wife Connie, all of Loudon. He was proudly called Doc by his six
grandchildren and their spouses, Randy & Christi Campbell (Kingsport, TN),
Marci & Paul Kimble (Metairie, LA), Jay & Jenny McNabb (Knoxville, TN),
Emily & Jeremy Lorenz (Loudon, TN), Taylor & Leigh McNabb (Lenoir City,
TN), and Megan & Kevin Watson (Sweetwater, TN). He also had 10 great-grandchildren who kept
him young at heart: Jordan (husband Micah), Ellie, Cooper, Junie, Tucker, Rylee
Kate, Zach, Alex, Gabe, and Will Parker.
J.Y. graduated from Roane County High School
in 1939, where he was both a baseball standout and football captain, as well as
a selected member of the “All Roane County Eleven.” After high school graduation, he received a
scholarship to play football for Hiwassee College. However, during the first
few weeks of classes, he was drafted to serve his country in WWII. He served in the 3rd Armored
Division in the United States Army under General Patton’s leadership and was 1
of 10,500 to receive the Purple Heart award during his service.
After
his discharge from the Army, he returned home and later moved to Loudon to
start his family and career. J.Y. was a
local banker from 1967- 1985 and served as election commissioner for Loudon
County for more than 30 years. He was an
active member of the local rotary club and faithfully attended Central Baptist
Church. J.Y. enjoyed fox hunting,
farming, and was in a bowling league until age 90. He was a true example of how you live your
life to the fullest and the importance of God, family, and friends.
The
family will receive friends on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Central Baptist
Church, Loudon, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and a celebration of life service to
