SJHS Team Camp for Tuck & Ry

Ry and Tuck both had a successful team camp this summer.  Tuck only played the first day due to our trip to Cooperstown but Ry had a couple weeks of games.  He hit several 3's and played some good ball.  Ry did quite well considering she started as a 6th grader.  Scored a couple buckets each game.  I really missed watching her play while we were gone but thankful for Doosie and Gramps running her to all her games and being in the gym all day when I couldn't be there. Oh how much fun it will be watching them play basketball this Fall and Winter.

She Did It!!!

She did it!!! My girl made the SJHS girl's basketball team. I am so proud of this girl and how hard she has worked.

Tucker's 6th grade awards and more

Tuck had a very successful 6th grade year.  He maintained all A's and a couple B's (90) throughout his year. I am very proud how he faced this year with boldness to do what's right, bravery (new school), and adjusting.  I can definitely say this has been the most challenging year Tucker has ever faced. I am not sure if it was because it was something new, mom not being at his school, or trying to maintain good grades while playing middle school basketball, middle school baseball and travel baseball, however he did it with little complaining and lots of hard work.  He was awarded several awards this year such as, Honor roll, AR, but the most prestigious award that was given Tuck received.  It was called the Alyssa Award and it is given to one student who encouraged special ed students and helped them feel successful.  You see Tuck's teacher emailed me earlier in the year and was telling me she gave the class an assignment to complete in small groups and he chose the two special ed students to be in his group. She said he knew by choosing them he wouldn't be in a group with his friends and he work load would be heavily on him, but he chose to do that anyway.  Anyway, to receive this award each 6th grade teacher chose a student and wrote a paragraph of why their chosen student should receive the Alyssa Award.  They give the nominations to someone off campus who then chooses who the recipient should be.  When they announced Tucker's name, I looked over and his teacher was VERY excited. Afterwards, she told me she had no idea he had won, but she had written not one but three paragraphs telling why he should.  To say I am proud of Tucker for being on the honor roll, making new friends, adjusting to a new school, and juggling athletics and school would be an understatement, however hearing how he treats other so kindly and possibly doing that when it is not the "cool" thing to do is so much more important.  I am so thankful God gave me Tucker 13 years ago.  He has a special heart and I can't wait to see how God uses him.
