My parents just recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Below is a tribute I wrote to honor them.
Mom and Dad,Fifty years of marriage is quite a legacy. I never really thought about it until I sat down this morning to write this. I am so thankful I have got to witness the love you both have for each other and your family.
Dad, your devotion to my mom taught me what to expect from a man. Of course you've lost your patience with her but it never lasted more than a few minutes (or hours). The countless times she's asked you to repaint her front door or the shutters because she didn't like the color or the times you have mulched around her billions of flowers she just planted never even put you over the edge. I've watched you kiss her every afternoon when you come home from work and heard too many to count "I Love You's" at bedtime. I've seen you all pray together and trust God to work miracles. Because of you , Dad I knew the exact man I wanted to marry. Someone who loves me BIG... and he does.
Mom, you have a servants heart and to know you is to be blessed by you. For 50 years you have cooked Dad meals (almost nightly), washed his clothes, and kept a fine house for him. You have supported him, took care of him, and repeated yourself a 100 times sometimes. Ha! Oh how faithfully you have prayed for him and your family. I'm not quite the cook and homemaker you are, but I'm so thankful I have you to call on for help and advice (oh and running my kids everywhere). You are just the Godly example I need.
Mom & Dad,
